I purchased my tractor used recently and all the tires are dry-rotted and cracked from sitting too long. They are holding air, but look really bad cracked on sidewalls. Need to replace them all. Curious for opinions on the best source to buy a full set. (L2500 4WD) Good quality and fair price? Thanks.

probably far cheaper to buy them as 'tire on rim' from the 'whole goods' counter at local Kubota dealer.

FWIW the rear tires for my BX23S list for $500, so I buy SAME tire, mounted on a new rim, with new valve and already has air in it for....... $340.

I can't explain WHY they're so much cheaper when you get everything.......

Besides the dealer you can also check with any large truck and industrial equipment tire dealer. They can usually source tractor tires at a price less than the dealer.

If your wheels are in good shape, you'll save by ordering from a tire shop.

If you need wheels, better sit down. There are 2 R1 choices and one is discontinued. No tire/wheel assemblies. Make sure front and rear are coordinated in case you have to change rear size, they may need different size fronts.

You might see if a current model, L2501/2?, matches your wheels. Don't forget to check the circumference ratio.

Post brand, size, and type of your existing tires and someone might give better advice. Do you want to stay with that style, if you want different now's the time?

Are you located in an agricultural area?
If so, you might be able to find a wheel and tire shop that's not 'proprietary'.

Here's the one I use:
Wenger Systems | (717) 656-9876 | New Holland, Pennsylvania

I realize you're not near this shop, but you can call them up for a quote, to get a starting place on price.
These guys have an inconsistent stock, because they tend to load up on dealer close-out surplus (read: CHEAP!).

I have oversize tires on my L2500, both front and rear.
For an R1 tire, you can't beat the Galaxy Earth Pro series, IMO...
I think that Kubota supplies Galaxy on certain 'tire on rim' sizes...

Mind the F/R gear ratio, when picking tires. Or, do not deviate from the OEM sizes.
F/R gear ratio on the L2500 is 1.6363.

If you're going to run an FEL all the time, you're going to want ballast in your rear tires.

Also, Galaxy is a subsidiary of Yokohama Tires.

It's a natural...

This might help. Apparently the prices vary depending on who you buy them from at the dealer.

From the tractor salesman at your Kubota dealer…not the parts department. On my BX-1870 I have two sets of mounted tires from my dealer, one set of R1 agricultural tires and one set of R3 turf tires. The additional set of mounted tires from whole goods was ~$500.

What size do you have. A local tire shop that has 6-8 places, that deals in car, truck, big trucks, industrial and tractor tires, list the 11.2-24 tire starting at $247 to $283.

True.
I got a sweet deal from the local Bota dealer on 4 brand new "take-offs" rims/tires.

If you are looking for turf tires, I've recently posted my story about the Kubota OEM "whole goods" which I purchased for my B-series.

To keep it short, it appears the "tire on rim" deal might not be so good after all. The tires are "Litefoot" brand and seem to be too light-duty for the job. I'm experiencing air loss through sidewall cracks at molded-in printing and the base of tread blocks. Some suggest overloading but the reality is that I haven't lifted anything of significance with the FEL since these new tires went on. They are pretty much junk in my opinion.

I'm hoping the new tires I'm installing, Galaxy Mighty Mow, 6 ply (rather than OEM 4 ply) will provide better durability.
