Haven't had Japanese Beetles in a couple years. They are worse then ever this year. Destroyed my grapes in a couple hours

Bags are half filled in a couple hours. Wish I had chickens to feed them to. Must be something to do with the mild winter.

I put out traps two days ago - they're munching the hell out of my blackberry plants. Never seen them this bad. Don't seem interested in the blueberries right next to them though. Traps are filling up quick.
Need more traps for the azaleas, the wife is complaining.

I saw one a few days ago and put traps out. Planned ahead and had them on hand (for a change).

As I was carrying the traps out I was swarmed by them. Seem pretty thick this year.

This is the first year in a long while I haven't had to battle them. They usually do their best to devastate my oriental lilies. I do find that liquid Sevin controls them quite well, as long as I get it on in time.

I won't use Sevin because it kills honey bees.

They love hostas and basil.

So far mine look pretty good. Might have caught it right this year.

I only put in two traps upwind of where some of them are planted.

Has worked well over the years.

Have never seen any traps at neighbors houses, but they’re some distance away.

Huh. Did not know that, and not coincidentally I tore out the big hosta bed next to my oriental lilies because I was sick and tired of providing a salad bar for the deer.

Deer like hostas too. Woodchucks also.

Deer also like Rhododendrons. We had many very large ones over several decades.

Deer seldom chewed on them unless a tough winter. Few times they were torn up pretty badly.

We’re down to one small one now.

Last winter was pretty tough here.

Deer picked it clean….has sprouted back, but it’s not looking too good.

I was under the impression that yew was toxic, but apparently not the variety I have.

I would cheerfully shoot every one of those woods rats I laid eyes on.

Buddy has a house in a subdivision with shrubbery next to the house.

The deer would be between his shrubs and the house, just chomping away.
