We finally broke freezing today…47 and the girls starting carrying out the dead bodies. As morbid as it looks as it is a sign of life. IMO they broke cluster and probably took some cleansing flights.

I’ll crack it open next week if we break 50 and check on their stores.
I finally made it home before dark and it was over 60. Beautiful sunny and low wind. So I took the girls top off! It’s been a minute since I saw that many little Bs, and I’m not talking tractors.🤣 the girls have been hitting the candy board we made in the fall pretty hard so we gave them some more sugar and a protein patty just in case. Seemed like they had good numbers but I did not keep the lid off long and just let them BEE. 🐝

anyway we have signs of life mid February. 🥃

after I put the girls top back on, Then I collected sap from our buckets. (28 gallons since Saturday, so starting to thinking about a boil and bourbon this weekend will if weather allows?! )
