Hi,

Its come time to replace the battery for my B6000. Can anyone reccomend a suitable battery that is available here in AUS. Namely i am interested in how much CCA i need, ( i have found a Centuary RC 75 with 430 cca for $130 but note sure if its strong enough)

Anyway wondering if any one can reccomed what model/brand i should target and how much cca is required.

Cheers,

Andy

Andy, mine is an Exide group 51 battery with 450 CCA that I got at a local battery dealer. These size batteries are used on Honda automobiles due to the size of them. It works fine with my B7100 and I do not have the decompression lever on my tractor. Any auto parts store should carry the battery. Hope this helps.

For my 1980 B7100 I went to a local battery outlet & got a new, blemished (?) car battery for $40 (Cdn.) incl. taxes, that fit the space. No idea of the CCA but tractor will crank & start @ -20C. Did the same for my 1947 Ford 8N but don't use it in the Winter.

How cold of a tempature are you trying to start the tractor from? If its not too chilly outside in Austrailia then 450cca sould be fine. If you're like some of the fellas on here and live in Canada then maybe 800 to 1000 cca might be a better option to buy for a battery. CCA refers to Cold Cranking Amps and how much work the battery has to put out in colder temperatures to start your tractor.

Yeah,

its not to cold down here in Tasmania compared to you guys in North America, our winters are rarely below 0deg C, so im confident that a battery with about 430 cca will work,

anyway i will give it a go.

Thanks for you input.

cheers andy
