A few years ago I bought a B7500 that had the same problem. I purchased a short seat belt extender that had the same size buckle end as the tractor. I cut the plastic off the Kubota seatbelt end that would not work. I bolted the extender to the tractor seatbelt end I had just cut the plastic from. I am sorry I do not remember if there was a hole to use for the bolt or if I needed to drill it.

Glad I looked through threads before starting a new thread on the same subject.

Mine hasn't been used in years, the release button won't depress--was this way when I bought '06 model 4 years ago I doubt previous owner ever used it.

Now that I am getting a little older and maybe a little wiser (or less stupid/more careful), and am doing a lot of work in the woods on some fairly steep trails bush hogging, moving down trees, I realized I need to fix it and USE IT.

My question is: will PB Blaster sprayed into the latch damage the plastic parts? That was my thought as the easiest thing to try first. Of course just buying the new assembly and just bolting on would be easiest but I'm a cheap ba$tard and would rather fix something if possible.

I shot Sea Foam Deep Creep into it. Maybe something will happen.

Here are two facts that don't go together:

1) Kubota put 5 safety switches on this mower.

2) They don't sell replacement seat belts.

I guess after the lawyers made them put the safety switches on the mower, they went out and got drunk.

I never had regular WD40 cause any problems with plastic. While it ain't a great penetrating oil it will make little mess and provides some lubrication.

might try 2, thin but WIDE bladed screwdrivers. on opposite sides, twist and see if it releases the 'pins' from the 'sockets'. In your picture you can almost see the pin, maybe 1/2" down from the joint I'd think maybe 4 pins,2 per side ?
one of those 'need to see it ,to fix it' problems.....

I was thinking they got drunk and then added all the safety features. 🍻

Whitetiger, I can't thank you enough for pointing that out. I must have been crazy, thinking seat belts would be on the seat page. Now that I look back on it, I realize how ridiculous that was.

I found the seat belt, and it's about $109. Maybe I should look for the part I need instead of a whole seat belt, to save money.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Whew. Made myself laugh.

Thanks for the suggestion about the screwdrivers, Jay. I didn't post that picture to show details about the part, except the lack of screws. You did a great job, picking out that detail.

Now that I know the belt can be bought, I can try to open it without fear that I can't replace it if I destroy it.

Some guy on Ebay is trying to sell a used belt for $200. That vintage patina doesn't come free.

I tapped mine a bunch then sprayed compressed air inside and then finally sprayed PB Blaster in it and everything started to work again. Lubricant had no affect on the plastic.

I will remove it from the mower, look inside with an otoscope, try to clean it out if needed, beat on it, and blow air through it. If I have to take it apart, I will. If all this doesn't work, I'll put a big patch of Velcro on the tractor seat and buy some Velcro pants.

It's remarkable that Kubota needs so many different belt models to do one job on similar pieces of equipment.
