After a week of fishing up north (Fort Kent Maine) time to rest up and get back in the routine.
Funny how 'vacation' tires me out. Coffee, fishing, breakfast, fishing, lunch, nap, fishing, supper, fishing. Repete.
Im just not used to being so busy. One thing this year is white perch had migrated into the Fish River waters. Odd to see. A pristine brook trout and salmon fishery the perch have made their way there.
High water and cold weather wasn't in the fisherman favor this year. No brook trout over 6" was cought. But salmon were plenty and lots of shorties under 14" tossed back but lots of 17"ers went onto the grill for suppers. And.
There's nothing like a comfort height toilet and a good recliner when you get home.

Sounds like a good problem to have sir!

I have never tried fly fishing yet.

Most of my stuff is either hook and minnow for Yellow Perch, or trolling for Walleye.

Around here, lots of people go after the Lake Trout with the occasional Salmon thrown in, but I hate eating those greasy Lakers, so I tend to shy away from actively pursuing them.

Pretty common to have to go to work to recoup from your vacation. " living your life" seems to take more energy than just working.

Have great memories canoeing on the Allagash when I was a scout. Went a total of 3 times later in life. Your post reminded me I should make it a fourth time. Ft. Kent was the first sign of civilization when we came back off the river looking and smelling like mountain men. We'd stop for pizza in a small town just over the Canadian border back in the days when just a driver's license was sufficient. Then the 11 hour ride home with great memories..

We did take a ride over to the Allagash. They are repaving the old road from FK to the Allagash River. Ill attach a photo here from Allagash of what I believe could possibly be the last moose left in Maine. With fish & game handing out 1400 permits a year to raise money for our governors solar panels the game here isn't what it used to be. Still beautiful there but seeing 10 moose a day is no longer possible.

Saving the planet at the expense of the moose isn't a trade-off in my mind. You would think that all the environmental groups would have been raising hell with the legislature and governor over this foolishness.
