B9200 shift lever arm boot replacement

I have a new boot to install on my B9200 shift lever arm and am thinking the top cover needs to come off the transmission. After removing the top bolts, the cover is still held in place, it moves slightly when lightly tapped.

What is the correct way to remove the shift lever arm for boot replacement?

Top cover came loose after lightly tapping and lifting upward. It was stuck pretty tight because of gasket seal and aligning dowels, was afraid to use too much pressure and damage something. After removing top cover was able to remove shifter shaft and install the new boot without damage. Thanks.
