I bought a Bush Hog heavier than the 370 pound one replaced, by 168 pounds. The front end is light now and I wanted to know how much weight approximately do I need to put on the weight bar on the front of the tractor? I believe the front tires are those 11 x 4 standard tires. Could put some CaCl2 in the front tires to help, but that would not be enough front end weight. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

curtis41,

Do you have any weights on the front currently? You should have 4x12 tires on the front. Check Craigslist, sometimes you can find suitcase weights fairly cheap and then make some brackets to fit them on the front. I had the same problem with my brush hog. I had to add some additional weight. Found 4 of the yellow weights at an auction near me. Got them for $12.50 each. Then bought some square stock to mount them with. The plates in the center are 1" thick steel and then I used a old add-a-leaf spring as a bumper/brush guard. Need to paint it all still.
