Hi guys. I have a B7200 with B1640 loader. The bucket tilt rams started drifting badly (visibly tilting so that I had to keep hitting the up lever to keep from dumping the load). So I had the seals replaced. Everything was good for about an hour of use, but they are back to doing it. I checked into buying new rams but they are 422.00 each. I already paid over 300 to have the seals replaced. My question is, are there any aftermarket rams available that would work on this loader? Thanks all. Bob

Are you sure the rams are leaking? Have you checked the valve? Switch the bucket hoses with the loader arm and see what happens.

I did that the first time and it was the rams. But, good idea, I better do it again and make sure it's the rams this time too. I'll get back with what I find. The reason i had the rams rebuilt is that I tried doing it myself but could not figure out how to get the darned"rings" back in the cylinder. It was almost like piston rings, but I had no ring compressor. Gave up and took them in. Shoulda asked here first.

Well, I switched the hoses and determined that it is, indeed, the rams again and not the valves. I forgot to mention that before i took the rams in to have the seals replaced I noticed rust at the bottom of the barrels.

So I went to the auto parts store and got a brake cylinder hone and used it on my drill. I never got totally rid of the rust. I think I'd need some coarser stones to do that. But I figured the rust was smoothed out enough that it wouldn't damage the seals.

Anyway. I'll contact the company that did the original work, but I have the feeling that they'll tell me the rams are no good and recommend new ones. Thus, I'd be back to my original question...does anyone know if there are any aftermarket rams that will work on a B1640 loader?

I measured the old ones on my B8200 and found some replacements online that only required a slight modification on the ends, they were just over $100 which is the price of the rebuild kid from Kubota
