I have a b7100 that cranks over like the starter is about toast. I pulled it apart and it looked good. I already ched volt drop amd all that stuff. My question has anyone ever put a gear reduction starter on these. I know most small diesels run a denso style starter. I tried one from a bota reefer motor but the starter flange was too wide. I think some of the d950 motors ran a gear reduction set up

It doesn't need a gear reduction starter.
If it's cranking hard there is an issue, like hydraulic system is dead heading the pump, mechanical issue with the tractor, dead battery, or bad field or armature, bad / frozen dynamo, bad / frozen idler gear, spun bearing, and many, many more.

All of the above are fine i think the starter is shot.
I understand it may not need a gear reduction starter but i want one. It sits outside and it gets cold in wisconsin. If im buying s starter i would prefer a gear reduction unit . So once again will a starter from a 950 motor have same bolt pattern

Yes a D950 uses the same starter as a D750.
