Having trouble installing new fan belt. Can't get the tension pulley to move. Not a lot of room to work in. Any help is appreciated.
I had a similar problem. Use plenty of WD40. Slacken nut in centre of tension pulley. Then start easing tension adjusting bolt using spanner. When you have slackened this bolt a bit, you can start tapping the actual pulley. It will be free to move within its guide in both directions - slacken or tighten.Having trouble installing new fan belt. Can't get the tension pulley to move. Not a lot of room to work in. There were some tests done and they found that a 50/50 mix of ATF and Acetone worked better than kroil :I would try some Kroil or P B blaster oil on it. Either of these is about the best you can use on rusty bolts. Spray some in there and let it set for a minute and it will usually work free. If I was ranking them I would put the Kroil in first place. The smell alone is enough to break most rusty bolts loose.
That's interesting numbers. I wonder how the Capt. Candle Wax method would stand up in their little test. There were some tests done and they found that a 50/50 mix of ATF and Acetone worked better than kroil :
