I have a Kubota b6200d. My grandfather gave it to me about 4 or 5 months ago. The steering column broke before he gave it to me and he had the dash and steering column torn apart when i received it. I just finally got around to repairing the problem and put everything back together. Before this happened it was running perfect. After i assembled everything I started it and it ran perfect. I let it run for about 5 or 6 minutes then cut it off to install a new decompression cable (While putting it back together i noticed that the decompression cable was broken, and looked like it had been broken for some time. I bought a new cable and installed it, connecting it to the decompress lever on the valve cover.) When i installed the cable the decompress lever was a little stiff but moving. When I went to start it, it would turn over but never start. I started messing with the cable and it did what I speculate it should do. Fully engaged it has no compression, not engaged it has full compression. But it would never start. It’s almost like I have a fuel problem. The tank was empty before I started reassembling the machine, so I filled it with diesel. But this was prior to starting and running it for 5 or 6 minutes. My thoughts are that A: I have a fuel problem or B: something messed up when I started messing with the decompress lever. I’m new to the diesel/tractor world and have no clue where to start. (I thought about taking the valve cover off and seeing if I could find a problem, but wanted some opinions first.) Thanks for reading.

Make sure the decompress lever is returning fully from its' spring tension.

See if the fuel filter bowl has water or other poop in it.
Loosen the nut on a fuel line at an injector about 1/2-3/4 turn and see if fuel is pumping out while starting.

I think you have a fuel problem. Check what Birddogger suggested. If you have fuel in the filter bowl and it is pumping you need to bleed the injectors.

ok. I took the valve cover off, removed the compression bar, cleaned everything, compression bar moves freely now, reassembled everything and still no luck. I Loosened the nut on a fuel line at an injector about 1/2-3/4 turn and no fuel pumped out. I took the fuel filter bowl off and fuel filter looked relatively clean. I have fuel making it to the fuel filter but doesn't look like i have any making it to the injectors. What now?

I plan on bleeding the injectors. I just have to figure out how to do so. Im going to search the forum.

Work your way up the system. Check the fuel feed into the pump and then bleed each line at the pump and then at the injector. There might be some gelled fuel in the line between the pump and filter.

If you have fuel to the fuel pump and the fuel pump is working and you open the bleed screw on the injection pump and you run the engine over with your now working compression release you should get diesel squirting out of the bleed screw.

That was a long sentence no!

OK, now with all the trying your battery is probably low.
Clean all 4 end of the 2 battery cables and make sure all 4 ends are bright and tight and have spotless connections. Buy a battery terminal brush if you don't have one. If you see any bulge in the sheath near the battery end there could be corrosion inside the cable; cut it back and install a new battery clamp.
Set the throttle to about half-way. Warm the glow plugs to a slow 20 count, pull the compression release, turn the key to "start" and let it spin-up barely a second and release the compression release. If after 3 tries it doesn't start; put the battery on a charger.
Let us know how that works out.

I am also a proud owner of a 6200d, I have had it less than one month. I have gone through the fuel system, since it was in pretty bad shape. I think all the post are spot on. I have gone through all those steps since I can't remember to turn the fuel valve on. I will do some checking and let you know if come up with anything. Good Luck!

Went out this morning and it started right up. Bleeding the injectors must have done the trick. Thanks Guys. Now to install my woods front end loader!

I have a l345 and i think the decompression is missing, from what i read here. It looks like someone pluged the valve cover with bolts on each end? wondered what that was all about, but reading here sound like it is where the decompression rod should be? The button is on the dash but no cable, and it wont move. Sorry not trying to to steel your thread dwadec21.

If it's like mine you've got three drain plugs. One on the underside of the transmission roughly opposite the fill cap, and then two more on the two low humps on the rear axle. Drain and refill with the proper amount. There will likely also be a level plug on one side of the transmission, the level is correct when fluid just spills out of this port with the tractor on level ground.
