The pics in my online service manual aren't that great and I'd like to tighten up the freeplay in the steering wheel. I pulled the yellow rubber plug on the side of the steering box ( a few drips of clean oil came out?)and I can see a slotted screw inside there. The manual says to loosen the nut then turn the screw clockwise.
My questions are: Is the nut they are referring to the deep one that the rubber plug pushes into? What kind of oil should be in there, how much oil, how do you fill it, and how do you know the correct level to fill it to?
Thanks in advance.

You loosen the "deep nut" (as you referred to it) and then adjust the screw inside. When you get the free play out you need to hold the screwdriver firmly while you tighten the nut.
You should see a small pipe plug on the top of the other side of the steering box to fill the oil. You fill it to the top. I use 80-90 weight oil.

I just looked at the Kubota parts web site. It is really hard to tell from their pictures but I think there are 2 possible steering boxes. One is like a B7100 with the fill plug on the top of the actual steering box. The other type the fill plug is on the collar of the steering column that bolts into the steering box.

I hope this helps.

I checked it out and it does have a tiny fill plug on the other side. It looks like you'd almost need a syringe to fill it, but the oil was clean and full. I made the adjustments and now just have a tiny bit of freeplay as recommended. Thanks for the input.
