I have a B2920 with about 600 hours. Last night my son finished mowing the lawn and turned the tractor off. When he went to restart it to put it away, he turned the key to the on position and the normal lights came on in the dash. When he turned it to the start position, all of the lights went off, but the starter did not engage. After that nothing worked. I put a battery booster on it (connected correctly) and when I turn the key to on, I get a buzzing sound and only the oil pressure light comes on. Turn it to start and nothing happens. It was getting dark and I was tired, so I left the battery charger on it and went in the house. Tried it before I went to bed with the same results.

I believe the battery is original. It has been sluggish starting in the winter, but no indication of a problem. I know it is unreliable, but the "eye" on the battery was green.

Are there any common problems that I should look into before buying a new battery?

Did he leave the PTO engaged when he shut it off?

Pull the battery take it to an auto parts store and have it load tested, then you'll know if it's good or bad for sure. ;)
