B2650 advice

I have worked out a deal to trade in my failed 3350 for a 2650. I have a few questions I'm hoping some of the more experienced users can help me answer.

I'm looking for some forks. Primarlily for moving logs. Are the kubota brand worth it? Pros and cons? 1,000 quoted

I currently have a 16" bucket on my backhoe was going to opt for the 12" for some very long trenches I need to dig, I could get away with the 16" but I also need to dig about 3-4 dozen holes for some new fencing, and gates, wood shed, and tree planting. So could I get away with just using the smaller bucket for digging holes or would an auger be better, or both? quoted 500 for the bucket 1200 for a landpride auger (he didnt tell me which model yet just a quick quote but I assume it's the PD25) waiting for a call back on model.

I read about how some guys were getting their auger stuck in the ground and a reverse function that may be available. The ground is very rocky where I'm at and I'm sure Id hit a bunch of roots as well. I don't want to create more work for myself digging out a stuck posthole digger.

Any recommendations or comments would be appreciated!

I have a set of Landpride 42" pallet forks. They are a great addition to the tractor and built very well. I have had my new tractor for about a week now and I wouldn't want to be without them. I think I have had them on more than the bucket.

I know they were priced under $1k.

I like LP, I have cutters, box scrapers and tiller. My LP dealer said he doesn't remember ever selling a set of LP forks and recommended one of the more economical brands as that's what he uses on his farms. Titan, Tomahawk, Loflin etc. are much cheaper, mine don't even have a brand name on them and we've never had an issue and use them primarily on our M8540.

i bought my forks with a L3200. they work on my B3350.
i did destroy the forks with my L3200 had to buy a second set.
when the new ones arrived. i combined the two units. to make the new forks stronger, where the first set failed. i also installed the two extra lifting 'L' bars. so now i have 4 lifting bars on my fork lift attachment.. with my L3200 i lifted logs large enough to require my back hoe attachment to have the bucket extended to balance the tractor.
i also used the forks to rip up a gravel driveway...
i would say the forks that come with the tractor if the same ones i got, would work for normal use.

That looks amazing! It looks like I won't regret getting the forks. I'm really looking forward to testing out the capabilities of the tractor.

I got a set of landpride forks with my B2650. I wanted, and was quoted, a set of PFL-2042 which are the 42" lightest duty forks they had. When it came time for delivery, the dealer didn't have any of those on hand so he gave me a set of PFL-3048 instead. Price as quoted was $699.00.
Even though these forks are heavier duty, 48" is a bit long for general use. They are great if I have 4' pallet but shorter ones are more useful for digging and pushing stuff around. When I have something heavy near the tips of these, I feel it because the rear end wants to lift off the ground.
I am very happy with Landpride so I would stick with them if you can.

For drilling fence posts, I have been completely spoiled by having a vertical path skid loader with hydraulic power for attachments. I've done the 3-pt hitch method with larger tractors (JD 4020) and the difference is amazing. I can only imagine that a B series Kubota would be far less effective than the JD 4020. Sure, the 3-pt auger will do the job, but it takes about 3 times more work on the part of the operator. I'm not kidding when I say it takes longer to put stakes in the ground to mark the holes than it does to drill the holes with a Bobcat. If you know for certain that you'll need to drill many fence post holes every year, it might make sense to own an auger. If you are going to drill those 4 dozen holes once and be done with fences for 10 years, you might seriously consider renting a skid loader with an auger for a day and be done with it. If you get a 3-pt auger stuck, you have a stuck auger for an hour or more while you dig it out with a shovel. If you get a hydraulic auger stuck, you reverse it back out and try again 5 seconds later without ever leaving your seat.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice. I've ordered the bota forks. I'll stay away from the auger, and try out digging my holes with my 12" bucket. If I find that it's too much, I'll rent the skid steer as you recommended.
