HI All!! looking to add a 12v accessory outlet on the right rear fender. Got the wire harness and found the red wire with black stripe which is key switched. This connected back into the harness and goes....? Is the proper way just to run new wires to the fuse panel and avoid the wire harness? Will be powering a small garden 12v pump for spraying.

If that wire is key switched, then it is fused - check the fuse rating, see if your pump is anywhere below that, and proceed.

If the pump is going to pull more amps than the fuse allows, RUN a new wire, making sure it is LARGE enough for the amp draw - and fuse it and make a new connection spot.

What does the pump draw in amps?

pump draw is less than an amp. currently running off a gel battery.
thanks for the reply. I'll trace the wire to the fuse block and follow your suggestion.

At 1 amp - I would hook it to that OEM wire and make it look "pretty":D:)

The accessory wire that runs to the back of my B2650 has a 10a fuse. I wired it to a waterproof switch and run my rear work light and my yard sprayer from it. I wired a 2 pole plug so I can switch between light or other electric accessory.

the wire I'm looking at is red with a black stripe but not open ended. I'm thinking it is connected to a safety switch somewhere ( not the seat). Last resort, I may be the proud owner of a shop manual or just run new wires and try to keep it "pretty". Thanks all for the replies.
