I have a B2400 with HST, about a 1998, about 700 hours, used mostly for mowing. Do some front loading a bit mostly lifting logs, tend brush fires and general work round the house, live in a forest so have a lot tree work going on.
Well it just started loosing power and wanting to stall the other day, like an overheat problem. Temp gauge says it is fine. So cleaned radiator, engine, and replaced coolant, changed the air, transmission, & fuel filter. Bleed the fuel line at the three injectors and the pump. There was no air in the lines. Oil looks good, did not mess with it. Still wants to stall after running the mower about an hour, push in clutch to release the load and it takes a few minute to recover so that I can get it back to the garage to try something else. Now I am at the end of my thoughts.
Mower deck is clean and can turn it by hand. Started the same symptom when using the loader to move a log.
Fuel is clean with no visible indications of water in the filter bowl or tank.
:( could use your help:(

Is there any possibility that there could be either gasoline or alcohol in the diesel?
Another thing to check is that the vent on the fuel cap is not plugged up, when it starts running bad the next time, open the fuel cap if it clears up then it's a cap vent problem.

Thank you, for the prompt reply, Wolfman.

I actually bought a new can of fuel and put it in because there is the tendency for this symptom to be caused by bad fuel. So I believe that I am good there.
I have not considered the fuel cap vent. Good thought and I will pursue this weekend.

One of the first thing I did when I got mine was, wash the tank out, replaced all hoses (including return hoses) and replaced the tank cap.

Yep, sounds like you have a fuel delivery problem.

After 15 years it might be time for some additional maintenance.

Hey Wolfman,

I think you called this correctly:cool:. The weekend has come and gone. I removed the fuel cap, took it apart, cleaned it up and blew out the vent. I managed to put a couple hour hours on it and all appears to be fine for now. I would imagine some of the fine ash from the fire pit  got into the cap vent.
I should be good for the upcoming winter tractor activity now.

Thanks a bunch guys, you helped when I hit the wall.:)
