Good morning,
I have a 2009 B2320. Shut off yesterday and tried to start. Buzzing under dash and click, click, click of solenoid. Starter will not spin diesel motor. Tried to jump, tried car battery. Cleaned starter, full of mud from a mud wasp. All safety switches working. Tractor tries to crank.

Starter engages and runs on bench test. Starter engages and runs in tractor but will not spin motor. Spins very slowly with jump start.

Diesel motor free, I can spin by hand.

Any ideas? I think dead starter. But tractor only has 300 hours.

It is not uncommon to have problem like you describe when trying to jump start with the jumper cables connected to a "bad" battery. Battery can have internal short or open cells. Take battery to a shop and have it tested/replaced or remove it from the tractor and temp replace with a battery that is known to be good (for testing)

Did you check the cables and cable ends for corrosion?

The starter can be tested by doing a voltage drop test (and/or an Amp draw test, if you have the tester) but you need a good battery to conduct that test.

Thanks
Tested w/ good car bat. Same result tries to spin the motor. Just does not turn it. clicking gets faster with good batt. and starter moves engine a little but it will not turn over. all connections are clean. I am getting new Battery today and will try that. If it does the same thing then new starter. If that does not work then road mechanic will have to come out.

The tractor batt is bad. Will not charge on high end batt charger. Never gets more then 15% reading.
Thanks again

Did you try hotwiring it...turn the key on, jumper from the solenoid on the starter to it's positive connection?

Check your battery cables ;) They can look good, but have a bad connection where the wire attaches to the terminals on the cables. Also clean the ground cable where it attaches to the frame. :)
