I live in the desert and I am wondering what is the best tire choice? about 60% of my work will be clearing a sand wash (moving sand), 40% would be other types of surfaces to include degrees of sand mixed in (no snow and very little asphalt). The dealer says I need R1 tires, almost insists, however everything I know about sand is the wider the better, like the R4 tires. Answered my own question I suppose.

You should consider a wide flotation type R1.

Look at turf tires!
They have huge flotation and good all around traction.
The one condition I wouldn't use them on is rocky ground as the fine tread would take a hit.
