I just bought and older b2150 4x4 tractor, got it home and toying around in yard I have noticed it seems to struggle to pull its self. I got my neighbors bush hog last night and with the extra weight it will simply stop pulling at any incline. With this said I took tractor and pushed up against a tree and in low range it will not even try to turn rear tires in 2 wd. Kinda sounds like fluid is bypassing in transmission. I changed fluid and filter and found one screen to clean. With this done it has made no difference at all, any words of advice would be greatly appreciated. First Kubota and it's a week old to me!

More than likely there is nothing wrong with the HST, it's probably go a fried clutch disk.

Did the brush hog slow down with the tractor slowing down?

I only started the bush hog I couldn't get tractor to pull into the field to see if it would bog down. I will get it somewhere later today and try it, thanks for input.

Ok so after cleaning screen and hyd oil change again, I took off the cover so I could see output shaft from clutch. Pushed up against a tree again and with no change in rpm in the output shaft tractor still set still no effort to spin tires. Seems if clutch was bad the shaft would slow down. Idk any more advice?

That's a bad sign.

Is there any difference in performance with cold/hot oil?

Did you clean the suction strainer? If so, what did you find?

Did you change the HST filter?

What oil did you use in the transaxle?

Sdt, thanks for taking the time to try and help. Oil being hot or cold has not made any difference that I can tell. Suction strainer was taken out last night and cleaned, but it had very few little specs stuck on it. HST filter if that is screw on filter yes it was changed. As far as oil in transaxle it is a tractor fluid that I use at my work that is for all tractors wet or dry brakes. Not Kubota oil I know but my thought was with owning it for a week tonight I would do a service with it and then in month or so change again. But as it is looking with nothing changing I am thinking it's bigger problems just hoping I am over looking something simple.

Oil will likely be OK if it meets Kubota SUDT/2 specs.

Not pulling with no indication of clutch problems is a VERY bad sign.

HST transmissions are very intolerant of incorrect or dirty oil due to very close clearances.

Do you know anything about the history of the tractor?

How many hours?

Random fluid use can cause issues with Kubota Hydrostatic transmissions.

How does the loader (if equipped), Power steering (if equipped) and three point work?

Is the three point jerky?

Wolfman no loader, power steering and 3 point lift work great. Smooth and plenty of power. I understand what your saying about the fluid but it has done same thing with three different loads of fluid.

Sadly your everything is pointing to an HST of some sort.

One other thing to check is that the input shaft is driving the input of the transmission, I've seen a couple that the splines of the coupler to the HST were stripped.

If you have someone else there engage the PTO spin it up and then try to move the tractor, if there is a coupler or drive issue the PTO will slow or stop with the slowing and stopping of the tractor. ;)
