B1550 'AR' Shift Position

I recently purchased a B1550 (3 speed manual tranny) and noticed a position just below the 'R' on the shifter bracket that is labeled 'AR'. Any help in understanding just what the position does would be appreciated. I can't tell any difference in the shift position when I attempt to place the lever to that location. The transmission works fine.
