May sound like a dumb questions to those with experience:

Did all B-series tractors come with mid PTO's from factory?

No they don't!! And there are MANY other differences between the various models too! You have to make sure the model you buy has the features you want.

Thanks eserv. Found a really nice 9200 cheap. Though looks as if it has no mid pto (or rear or 3point or rops for that matter). Still tempted though as it appears to be in phenomenal condition. Struggling over if it is worth getting and adding functionality later.

Sounds to me like you've found a 9200HST-Tow.

Very nice unit! I have one and love it.

Not cost effective to add the PTO or 3 point later though. Kubota left out lots of parts inside the transmission that would normally be there to power the PTO. Several years ago, I figured out the parts it would take to add the PTO and it was very expensive unless I could find a donor tractor. Eventually abandoned the idea and have just used it as-is instead.

I mostly use it to move stuff around. I mounted an engine hoist on the rear of mine that has proven very handy.

If it's a Tow unit, also check to see if the front driveshaft is there. On mine, it was removed by the airline and thrown in the trash. I was told by the maint mechanic that I bought it from that they removed all of them and threw them away because they spent all their time on concrete and asphalt...sigh...

Finally, mine has lots of hours on it and it still runs like new. Don't be afraid of the hours as the airline stuff is usually under regular maintenance and well taken care of. (not an issue if yours is the one I think it is)

If it's the one with a couple of hundred hours that was used to tow a trailer around, it looks like a really nice unit.

Still a nice tractor and handy to have around.

Good luck,

Steve
