Removed oil strainer to clean it had been cross-threaded at on time. Purchased a new one need to run a tap to clean threads. Can anyone help with the size of tap. Thanks for any help

If you want to be 100% correct on the size take it to a machine shop and ask them.
I do believe it's a 1" BSPP, but I could be wrong.
