I went to my local dealer today and was told I probably wouldn't find a slip clutch for my 48" brush hog. My tractor is a B6200 @ 15HP/12.5 PTO HP. I bought a few grade 2 shear bolts and the PTO has an overrun clutch. If I can't find one would another overrun work on the 'hog end? I'm leery of using a grade 5 bolt.

You only use an overrunning clutch on the tractor side, but on your model you don't need one at all because there is one in the transmission already.
And I'm pretty sure you can get a slip clutch for any mower, you just might need to change the PTO shaft to make up for it.

It's a Bush Hog SQ48-3 - 1-3/8" smooth output shaft. I can get a clutch for 20hp, but am afraid to glaze the disc if I adjust it lower. Someone said I could grind the springs down and I know how to do that safely, but I'll try the sheer bolts and see how it performs.

Bookmarked - thanks Wolffman. Agisupply has a 20 - 50HP one, but I was told adjusting them too low results in a glazed disc.

I see that they have one too, I can't see there being an issue with setting them too light, as slipping is what they are designed to do, your not going to glaze the disks unless you set it way too light and it slips all the time. ;)
The only time I could see it being an issue slipping is when it's being feed too much HP and out doing it's torque rating.

That's where is headed to! I would also assume you have a 1/2" bolt size?

With that you have to change the gear box end yoke to a 540 spline, the gear box bell shroud and shorten both shafts equidistant.

I did a little digging and that is a Eurocardan unit so I downloaded the page of settings and there is plenty of room to go down. I calculated the spring length/torque for 15hp. and it should work. The reason I wanted to go with a slip clutch is I will be brush hogging in the woods and a layer of leaves can cover a lot of potential problems.

I completely agree, mine has a slip clutch and never an issue. :D
A neighbor of mine does not have one on his and breaks shear pins every few laps around his place and just keeps complaining about it!
