Help req., Amazon query from USA location please

Can someone in the US do a search for Chamberlain driveway alarm and see what comes up, amazon are going to block us in Australia from 1st July, and I bought one of these for a friend a few weeks ago for ~$42, fulfilled by amazon, now I want a few more but they don't do them, others do for a lot more, plus shipping, but may not be worth it. Just want to see what comes up from the US as they said they would stop proxies accessing the service as well.

Thanks Bill, Amazon must have dropped this product in the last week or 2. Dang, and double dang, because we won't be able to access things in a weeks time, because our government wants to add tax of 10% to everything coming in and amazon said stick it!

They are actually talking about sales tax on internet purchases here in the states as well, according to the news tonight.

In Australia we have a goods and services tax (GST) on everything except food basics of 10% (Soon to go up to 15% I expect!) When importing personal items up to $1000, no import duties of GST. Now the government is getting all companies to add 10% to purchases coming to OZ, payable to the government. Amazon had started in OZ, but only limited range, and heaps more expensive (250% more!) than getting from US site and paying international postage.

Amazon.com, said no go for tax, and will block all sales to OZ addresses etc., so instead of gazillions of products, we will get a tiny fraction at extremely inflated prices.

And the other problem, a lot of the sellers won't ship internationally, so this driveway alarm for $66 can't be shipped to OZ, whereas the $42 item (exactly the same) "fulfilled by amazon.com", could be shipped. And yes this item is available on the OZ amazon site for 250% increase, plus shipping! The sensor alone is available at plus 400%!

Have you checked into ordering direct from Chamberlain? Yes, its a higher price at $99 USD, but perhaps shipping would be less.

Check Ebay too. A US seller might ship internationally.

Also, check independent dealers in the US, Canada & Mexico.

Thanks Cliff, yes I buy from ebay and companies direct if I can, but not always possible. Just having a whinge about the AUS government, and amazon price gouging in Australia.

I don't think the government will make any money out of it, all their running costs and new departments to administer it will consume any income. Retailers were complaining they couldn't compete with overseas imports without GST, but it's not the 10% that was the problem, just the 100%+ markup by the retailers..........

Amazon marketplace sellers are responsible for all the customs fees, duties, etc to get package delivered to end customer for the fixed shipping price. These costs vary a lot by country. Have jump the price up not to lose money on international orders. Then lose domestic order because of price.
