Used oil analysis needs to tell you how low your Total Base Number got to (acid neutralizer), total silicon (dirt ingestion), iron content (cylinder and cam wear), water content/coolant content (head gasket rupture/thermostat stuck open), aluminum and copper content (plain bearing wear), and viscosity at 212°F (viscosity improver depletion).

There's a couple other stats.

Ooo!!! Volatility. Very important.

under a rock
It's all horsecrap.

sidecar is pounding his chest because he has 3000 hours without a failure...

"one attaboy" given.

I've got a 1998 Jeep cherokee with damn near 300K miles and I change the oil whenever the mood strikes me.... oil filter? sometimes I never bothered.

other times I grab whatever is on sale... Oil? I've run about everything...

But most times RotellaT 15/40 from walmart. (which is actually good oil) run it in about everything...

I just love these self proclaimed experts.

talk to the hand.
