Air filter BX2230

I've been using Wix exclusively for oil and air. I've been checking prices for the air filter 46449 Ive found that in some listings there is a inner filter to go with the outer. When I first changed mine several years ago, I took the filter with me to make sure I got the right one. My machine only had outer filter and no mention of inner filter was made. Is inner filter that important? My area is grass and not dusty

I have an inner filter on by BX23 and I believe it is a safety measure in the event of an outer filter failure due to perforation.

Both of my tractors have two air filters i.e. an outer and an inner. I'm not convinced that the inner is a safety in the event of a failure of the outer filter. I think its primary function is to further refine the air going into the engine, but it would act as a barrier if the outer filter failed.

I’ve been using two the entire time I have owned it. After every day’s use I pull the outer filter and knock the dust out of it by thumping it on the tire. I learned that when I was a logger.

Yes, it is a safety element and should be in there.

Kubota published a bulletin sometime ago about the safety element for the BX series:
K7561-82360 Inner (Safety) Air Filter Element

That particular inner-filter is specifically for the RTV-series Kubotas.

As a “FootNote”….it is mentioned that it “can” be used for the BX series. But if you use the parts illustrations …only the outer filter is offered.

OK, it appears to be optional for BX series. If I lived in a very dusty area I'd probably install it. But seeing that cutting grass and snow blowing are my main objectives, I'll quit worrying about it.

This cannot be overstated! There's absolutely nothing wrong with the oil that came in the tractor from the factory.

I'm tired of subsidizing new skyscrapers in Abu Dhabi.
