Hello đź‘‹

First post. I’m looking at a dedicated FEL for my small estate.

On my way to look at a clean 5100 with loader and 3 point. No hours but she doesn’t look rough at all. Everything works as it should. Could use glow plug switch replaced and shifter boot. $3500 asking.

I’ve looked at some old gasser GT. JDs and cubs. There is a cub package near me at 5k that has everything. 3235 2wd hydro, 2 stage blower can quick mount to front end or currently set to quick attach to loader, cab for blowing, 44 deck, 60 deck, 400 hrs, 3 point, rear blade, four way plow. Kwik way loader and it’s no less capable then the 5100. Turfs, bar tires loaded and wheel weight, ballast box, 2 parts 3235 one with no motor, other has motor with knock but full parts including working tail lights and headlights which you’d surprised are hard to find and pricey. 4 way plow. Power steering, three hydro levers. Asking $5,500. Think I can get for 5k

Besides the above choices. I have two wheel horses, JD111, plows carts, blowers for WH, mower decks for all, currently mowing with exmark metro with Kawi and sulky belt drive but mows circles on anything above.

The garden tractor seems like a great addition for a do all and consolidate redundant machines and sell off of above. But longevity or ability to resell are concerning to me.

Where as at $3k where can u find a dedicated FEL. Diesel and should be able resell likely at close to Aquisition cost. Because we all know I will be upgraded at some point.

My primary needs at this point is moving loose material. Snow removal isn’t a big deal around here and I’ve got stuff I can use.

Thoughts are appreciated.

B5100 iss the second smallest B ever made, so very low on the HP side of things.
The engine in that model is a rare engine, so if you have any engine issues you could be stuck with a anchor in nothing flat.
Everything else is pretty much shared with the larger versions.
Being 2wd and having no PS is going to make a loaded bucket pretty unruly.
Also if your not used to a standard transmission and loading dirt, you could have clutch issues very quickly.

I’ve decided to pass. The lack of PS is a real issue as is lack of safety features and user cockpit is not easy. I would never let my kids use it. Whereas when I had an L2900 years ago I was comfortable with them using as it single lever and hydro., and we had the backhoe. Miss that machine.
