Ok people I need a hand here! what markings on a head dictate what engine it will fit on?
I have 2 B7100's and there are no markings on them that look any thing like each other.
I have the chance to buy a spare head but the guy does not know what engine its off other than its 3 cyls and it has K4-D cast in it ,one of mine has k4-A.but the other has 750.
cheers

Lots of luck. I wish someone would come up with an interchange book on Kubota parts and engines. I wonder if they make so many things that don't interchange to keep the aftermarket people away. If I need rings again I'm going to check out matching them by bore and thickness. $307 dollars for a four cylinder with three ring pistons is ridiculous. Last time I checked you could buy a complete rebuild kit for a 350 Chevy for 159.95. That includes pistons, cam, lifters, rings, bearings, gaskets, oil pump, timing chain and gears plus expansion plugs. Buying a couple of Kubota tractors with worn out engines, thinking I could rebuild them cheap was a mistake. I'll check out aftermarket parts before doing that again.

Take them to an engine rebuilding shop that does cylinder head work and ask them to give you their opinion on 'what they see'.

They deal with cylinder heads day in and day out. After a couple of quick measurements, they'll be able to tell you with a much better degree of accuracy what you've got and if it'll work.

It wouldn't hurt to take along a new head gasket either part# 15975-03310, $49.25. B-7100 cylinder head shim, part# 15371-03320 prices at $9.30.

We've got them in stock.
If I had the head in my hand so to speak I could probably have told if it would fit.
The problem was it was listed on an auction site for a Bin of 65 gbp complete with inlet manifold, injectors, glo plugs and injection pipes which I thought was a bargain if it would fit which was why I was hoping for some quick help from you guys, its been snaped up now so I'll never know:(

Is that price delivered to the UK Vic? ;):D

From what I'd been able to figure out, of the 3cyl. heads with perpendicular injectors, the D650/750/850 are all interchangable. The D950 has bigger valves that'll interfere on the cylinder walls (don't ask how I know). The one up for auction looks to me like a D750 head. It also looks a bit mungy on the rear cylinder, possibly indicating a crack or leaking gasket. If they overheat it's usually the middle one that cracks, right between the intake and exhaust valve. It also looks like the valves are recessed rather far - maybe has had valve seats ground too many times?
