working hard and trying to beat the heat,, gave the little beastie a bit of wash this morning.. a few more add-ons to make things a bit nicer.. wheel spinner, tool box, overhead fan and a correctly colored "cool snake".. chainsaw holder working great would like to find or build a holder for axe and mattock for the other side.. stump and root pile keeps growing!!

Question: Does the tool box get in the way when you fill the gas tank? I use 5 gallon jugs and could see that being an obstruction.

I amzed a fuel nozzel replacement,, lets you join two sections together for a long tube,, gets rid of the useless valve crap (those valve things can let water into your can)
all older stuff (no pottery shards) years back I found 2 very nice stone motar bowls..
Used to work in Rocky Mount, NC in cotton fields and find pottery chunks and arrow heads would pop up every now and then after a good rain. The superintendent of the research farm had a very nice collection. (most of the research stations had collections...)

Digging is your best bet (vs. surface finds).
Found all of these in two days of digging on my Aunt's property in Austin, TX.
spent a good amount of the weekend on the tractor,, a couple of finds to make the days more interesting.. axe head and a scraper like tool..

I get pissed when when I lose a $10 broad-head.
I can't imagine how it would feel to lose one of those, then have to sit and make a new one....hahahah
Depending on material and the skill of the person making a 'point', it really doesn't take that long to make a projectile point. All your time is in making a good arrow shaft.Very cool collection.

I am a flintknapper (hobby of mine) but also hunt with what I make. I can knock out a decent point (of good chert) in 20 minutes or so.

lots of rain last night,, will be a few days before working on the driveway.. might have washed up some points in the soil piles I have in back,, all the finds suggest "Guildford" culture 5000-6000 years old,, not that far from where the the culture was first described..
back to work on widening the far end of the new driveway,,, one more big stump no longer in the way..

a long bladed trenching shovel,, works well to get the clay unstuck from the stump sections, this one had three good sized side roots that were sawed off the main section so I could dig down 5-6ft the break things loose..(saws-all does work better than chainsaw)

things have dried up enough that I could work on the road,, we wanted to widen the end where the building will go,, of course found more stumps,, the pile is now bigger than the tractor!!! the other thing I find is quartz rocks,, it seems this layer of red clay is on top of a quartz layer.. the larger chunks do get in the way but they will be saved for landscaping..
