EGR Cooler
I have seen other brands that the heat exchanger is plugged with soot.

Has anyone checked it?

Has anyone checked the intake system for soot from the EGR?

The EGR valve can get stuck either closed or open or somewhere in between due to soot build up. I would be very interested in what you find if you decide to remove the EGR heat exchanger. There are options available that will prevent the EGR valve from opening thereby preventing crap from heading into the engine, which of course prevents crap from getting into the engine oil. What a concept! Engine oil that doesn't turn black within a few hours!

I change my oil every 200 hours. I am surprised at how clean it stays on my L4060.

My ZD1211 get black a lot quicker.

My old L3540 got black a lot quicker.

I have 1,200 hours on the tractor. At 1,500 hours you should clean the EGR cooler and replace the Oil separator element.

It is not easy to get EGR cooler out. The bolts are hard to get to the coolant lines were stuck on.

There is a bracket that hooks to the exhaust manifold that you can not loosen that bolt because a steel hydraulic line is in the way.

That soot goes all the way to the combustion chamber. We would never let that get thru the air filter.
