I picked up some rope and it wrapped around the back hoe subframe and the axle. It totally destroyed the right rear axle seal. I have removed the back hoe and its frame and have the axle case exposed. My question is: can I just remove the half case housing for the axle and remove the axle and put in a new seal? I imagine that the axle is held in with a clip. I have a copy of the WSM, but it is of little help. I don't think I have to remove the entire axle assembly to remove the half case. Any help would be appreciated. John in northern VA.

Re: B3600HST rear axle seal replacement

I'm going to question one thing right off the bat, B3600? Kubota never made such an animal.
So do you have a B???? or an L3600?

Ok so it can't even be a L3600HST, they didn't make that model in an HST.

Looking at all the L's they never used an axle housing like that, so B3200HSD?

FYI: And your B7300 is an B7300HSD not a B7300HST, little detail but it will give you better answers in future.

Re: B3200HST rear axle seal replacement

Opps, my bad. It is a B3200 HST. Sorry for the confusion.

Attached are a couple pics of the rear axle case. It looks like I can remove the bolts around the case housing and it should come right off. According to the WSM it show a pic with the diff lock gears. The axle shaft looks to be held in place with a large bearing and brake shaft.
