Just purchased an SVL65-2, and was using it this past weekend. The owner's manual states not to use full load / rpm for the first 50 hours. How do you monitor the RPM on these machines? Searched the operator's manual, and did not see how this is accomplished.

I'm not familiar with that machine at all however with mine for the first 50 I didn't go above the medium range and keep the rpm up high enough so it didn't lug while I was using it but also didn't max out the rpm's. I just looked it up, very nice, congrats.

What NO Tach !!??? THAT is just silly.....
Maybe ask the dealership where you bought it, though my 'gut' says <3/4 thottle for RPM. 'full' load ? Maybe take 1/2 buckets at slower ground speeds ?? I'm assuming 'load' means what's in the bucket or force to go up a steep hill or pushing a freight train.....
no tach....probably has air condioning though :);)

Your ears can be as good as any tach as long as your not hearing impaired whether you have a tach or not.

That's what I did this last weekend.
Engine is very quiet, and behind me - do I just want to make sure I don't push it accidentally.

I kept the throttle (rotating dial) at less than half, but there is also a foot throttle you can press while pushing the bucket into dirt piles, or scraping from the road in front of you. That's the part where I worry that you could push it while in the first 50 hours.

It does have air conditioning, and with the front door closed it pressurizes the cab so that no dirt / dust gets inside. Pretty nice feature.

Congrats on the SVL65. At least you took the time to read the Operator's Manual which is more than some folks do.

hmm. guess you NEED AC in Georgia pretty soon !
Silly question but does the 'dial' preset the maximum speed or can the foot pedal go faster ?

Talked to the dealer today, and verified there is no rpm indication on the machine, nor is there an option to purchase one. He said to do that by ear, and if there ever was a problem, the machine is under warranty.

Hope he remembers if/when there is an issue!

I think you'll be fine just for the simple fact that you're taking time to ask questions and learn. Once again very nice, wouldn't mind getting a little seat time in it myself.

If you want to add a tach you probably could using a TinyTach but you probably don’t need the tachometer. Tractors have the so you can get the pto speed correct.

I was surprised to find that my SVL65 did not come with a tach, but then realized it really is unnecessary. The tach on the tractor is a critical component because the tractor requires the correct engine rpm needed to match a 540 rpm at the PTO. Kubota engines run happily at higher rpm than other makes.
