Default What is that thing ?

I don't have a tractor … yet …. Who knows without going out to your tractor and looking? …. ok, go ahead n look … What is the Hood Ornament on BX tractors (and B,s and others if they're the same) ? not the circle with a "K" in the middle that's between the headlights … that I can see n tell, but I cant tell what the hood ornament is ….?...? just curious , I've been looking n lurking on these sites for months and it just dawned on me that I don't know what it is. they might have changed over the years, too.

Well, the parts manual calls it a "mark".

I suppose it's just a styling addition. You have to admit, it looks better with it than without it.

The manuals I have call it a “mascot”, which is an English word translated from the Japanese representing good fortune or good luck. I suppose it might have been intended to indicate that owners will have “good luck” with what’s under the hood.

I always wondered why it was only some of the old B series that had the "bull" ornament.

I don't have a hood ornament on my tractor, just the circle K on the grill.

Maybe the older tractors with the bull ornament was a symbol of the water buffalo many of them replaced!

Something the dealer uses in the shop putting the tractors together is my best guess. This was a pic they sent me after they built it from a crate.

On a B series, that hood ornament twists slightly and allows the hood to be opened.
