Also I did mode a test. Everything checked out per manual. I'm beginning to think this is the way it is? I did notice a cruise control kit for a 3901 on you tube that has linkage between cruise control lever and pedal. I see no linkage on the 5740

Well I just swapped the cruise sensor and the pedal sensor because they are the same part number. The tractor operates the exact same......errr!

Just got around to replacing the speed sensor. So now I have a working speedometer. The cruise control still does engage like it should. So they were not related. Guess I'll start looking at the cruise sensor.....

For the cruise to engage I Rev rpms by hand then use the pedal to move fed. At that point I move cruise lever to the middle and mph holds, if I want to move faster I move the cruise lever farther down. I CANNOT set the cruise by using only the foot pedal . For whatever reason the hand throttle...

Update. Not 100% positive but the speedometer and cruise do not appear to be related. Upon inspection the speed sensor is broken off. I went through all of the obvious connections regarding the cruise sensors etc. When i engage the cruise lever the cruise light on the panel comes on. But...

Clearly everyone is being facetious and that's putting it nicely. I'll just retreat deep into the WSM and pretend I know how to read wiring diagrams.

Any thoughts on where to begin on a l5740 hydro cruise control that will not engage? Additionally the speedometer is not working but I don't think these 2 things are related?

Oh I see you already replaced.....oops

Most likely the switch is still good but has too much debri around the tiny little button that depresses. Take it off and clean good and it will start working again. I've done this on 2 different l series. It takes about 10 minutes to fix

Did you shorten or lengthen it? Is that all it took?

Thanks. I bought the 5740 used , it's significantly louder than my 3240 (which I have put 450hrs on). Guess I'm just anxious not knowing the history of the tractor and never running a turbo before. I just need more seat time to gain some confidence in the new orange. Thanks

So can you use rotella t6 on an L5740 which has a EGR system? Yes or no I use diesel from normal gas station pumps in the south.

5740 is substantially louder than my 3240, guess that's the nature of the beast? Turbo, esg, hydro.....ear protection a must when running pto 540...I think my video is too large

I'll see if I can get a video this weekend. Don't think it's exhaust related since I don't hear it when stationary and Rev it up
