Well I cleaned up everything and now see one of the shafts teeth are pretty worn down. I will need to replace it as well What mine looks and what it should look like

interesting. I noticed they have the same part (shim) listed in the parts diagram and the only difference is one is .2mm and one is .3mm. I will have to take my caliper out to see which one was in the gearbox originally. I guess they may have changed which one to use over time.

Can you elaborate on “backlash”? I am a noob to rebuilding this gearbox.

Is brake cleaner the best thing to use to get all the oil residue out of the gearbox?

That makes sense. One last question, what is the best thing to clean the inside of the gearbox? I would like to get all the old gunk in there out. I plan on wiping it out as best as I can with rags. Is there a cleaner/degreaser that you guys would recommend ?

so I called my local Kubota shop and they told me the gearboxes come from the factory with super udt oil but they use 80-90w when they service them so that makes more sense. I will use 80-90w oil. I am still not sure if I need to put any grease on the replacement bearings or not. Any suggestions?

there was no gasket originally so that is why I think I need something to make a gasket

I am rebuilding the mower gear box and was wondering if I need to pack grease in the bearings as part of the rebuild or does the bearings just get their lubrication from the super udt fluid? Also should I use permatex gasket maker to seal the gearbox half’s when input them back together? Any...

I was hoping not to put too much money into this tractor. I was going to fix the tire and sell it. I didn’t see any thread attached to your response.

Anyone know where I can find a front rim to fit a Kubota L185 tractor? I pulled rim off to replace front tire and noticed the rim was just rusted through. I have attached a few pictures with the measurements. I don’t mind buying a usedrim if I can find one.
