    B2601 first maintenance

My manual does not list any maintenance until 50 hours. I have read and heard about a first maintenance at 20 hours. What is the consensus here? i want to take care of this equipment properly. so I feel like I need to do a t least a preliminary "pre-maintenance'" at 20 hours. I assume for the...

    Proper Ballast Recommendations

Good question! There are definitely drain holes in the bottom of each pvc tube. I also kept the trash can lid and cut a slot out for the top link. the slot is covered with a piece of old tire inner tube so not much rain will get in regardless of the drains being there. Vann

    Proper Ballast Recommendations

I have a B2601 and went through the same questions. I ended up with a ballast unit that weighs approximately 450# and has multiple tubes for tools, a trailer hitch, scabbards for 2 chains saws, chain hooks and a box for miscellaneous tools. I used the base weights as shown in the owner's manual...

Which Kubota to get this time?

I have a new B2601. I don’t use a mower and I have no experience with the other models you are considering. I use a 48” rotary cutter on about 2 acres of powerline, the FEL and a boom pole for moving logs to be cut for firewood. The B2601 does everything that I ask it to do without hesitation...

In the market for a High Perf Cooler : YETI , Coleman, RTIC , Grizzly...???

I made the cover using 2 layers of reflectix and the special tape that is made for reflectix. I got both at Lowe's. I think I used 2 rolls of reflectix and still have some tape left from the original roll. I wrapped the reflectix around the base of the cooler I made a separate top that...

In the market for a High Perf Cooler : YETI , Coleman, RTIC , Grizzly...???

We use our coolers for multi-day river trips. It stays in the hot sun all day . We bought an Engel after researching and have been very happy with it. I made a 2 layer reflectix cover and that added another day of keeping ice solid. I would recommend the Engel coolers, but don't know if they...

    Ballast for B2601

I recently purchased a B2601 and needed a ballast box. I looked at lots of posts and videos to find out the options and decided what I might need. I wanted about 400-450# total and started figuring volumes and weights. I decided to use a 20 gallon trash can as the base. I used a standard draw...

    PTO shaft size?

The tractor end of my driveshaft has the female spline part(is this the yoke?) and a universal joint welded to the end of the inner shaft that slides inside the outer shaft that is connected to the gearbox. So, are you saying that you can cut off the splined female end and weld on a new 1 3/8"...

    PTO shaft size?

In an earlier post {PTO hookup Question) I was having a problem aligning the PTO shaft with my OLD bush hog splines. I took the shaft off, used rust remover, used a metal brush wheel to remove more rust, sanded the new kubota PTO shaft to remove paint and still the bush hog connection would...

    Hooking up PTO question

thanks for all of the replies. There is a lot to learn. My last tractor was a 1963 MF35 which I am trying to sell now. the Kubota is very different ! Just a follow-up to McFarmall-I was able to get the shaft shortened to the correct link. The bush hog had not been used for a couple of years and...

    Hooking up PTO question

I am a new Kubota owner with a B2610. I have had good success hooking up the 3 point hitch several times. today, we hooked up our bush hog-the 3 point hookup went fine, but we had trouble with the PTO. We can shorten the shaft enough, but can't seem to get the splines aligned. We sometimes can...

    Ballast box question

THANKS for all of your replys and information. It's great to have such a resource for new Kubota owners. I've had 3 other tractors, but they were all different models and much older. I plan to use this not only as ballast, but also a tool holder. I will put in several PVC pipes, a chain saw...

    Ballast box question

I am building a new ballast box for my B2601. My question is how to use the 3 point lower arms to carry the box. It seems that if I use the arms in the lowest position (not raising them at all) it will use no hydraulic power and leave more power for the FEL. Is there a reason to raise the box...
