B2400 HST 4wd - Partially stripped bolt housing

Sadly, I worked the tractor really hard today moving tree limbs- and it leaked at the same. bolt. I tighten it a little more but it did not bottom out. I used it a little more and it did not leak - but I am doubtful. Assuming it does leak - I have the following plan(s) - 1. I will have tomorrow...

B2400 HST 4wd - Partially stripped bolt housing

Prior to using Loctite 236382 4.8-ML. Form-A-Thread Stripped Thread Repair Kit, I spoke to Loctite technical support - she said that the product was discontinued over 2 years ago (and there was no similar product from Loctite currently for sale). She indicated that because the product was on...

    (Fixed) Kubota B2400 big leak

Got the tractor running today. The sleeve and Permatex Sleeve Retainer High Temp, 64040 held perfectly - no leaks. Glad you responded before I took the rear axle apart. Don't know how you you put "Solved" before the title of this post - but it is. Thank you so much for your help.

B2400 HST 4wd - Partially stripped bolt housing

Thanks for your help again.... Wolfman - I do have a guy who will do this type of welding but thanks for the offer. Thanks to Mountainman, replaced these plugs (stripped bolt heads) and can use the old ones for building the tester. PoTreeMan - I have the Work Shop Manual and will the sections...

B2400 HST 4wd - Partially stripped bolt housing

I understand that the part I am working on is a pressure relief valve. I am interested in testing the relief valve pressure after reassembling this valve. I believe the pressure relief valve is addressed in WSM Manual, page 8-M6 (except I don't see a spring) and the testing procedure is on...

B2400 HST 4wd - Partially stripped bolt housing

Torch - I like the ideas and will use them. Looking into the hole there appears to be a small hole on the top (and maybe the bottom) of the bolt hole, just after where the bolt would stop when screwing it into the hole. Certainly is best not to cover this hole(s) with locktite. I will also...

B2400 HST 4wd - Partially stripped bolt housing

Sticking with Plan A. 1. I have ordered the o-ring. 2. A magnet did not attract the shavings. And, looking at other bolt holes on the tractor, I don't think its helicoil. 3. I will not use a shim in the assembly. PoTreeBoy and Wolfman - thank you both for your time and advise.

B2400 HST 4wd - Partially stripped bolt housing

When I removed the bolt, the spring and charge relief fell out but I was unable to locate the shim. You are probably right about 450 still being in the case. I am hoping to get the parts used so I'll probably get the whole assembly because I don't think there would be a significant price...

B2400 HST 4wd - Partially stripped bolt housing

Thank you for your help. I was unable to Loctite PC3967 so I ordered Loctite 236382 4.8-ML. Form-A-Thread Stripped Thread Repair Kit from Amazon. I am missing parts 460 and 450 - am in the process of getting these parts. I do not think that I had the necessary clearances to do the helicoil...

The sleeve installation went great today. I intended to let it cure for 24 hrs before adding the hydraulic fluid but have the problem referenced in my newest post. I thank you very much for your help.

B2400 HST 4wd - Partially stripped bolt housing

Working on the tractor today and started randomly tightening bolts to reduce sources of hydraulic leaks. When I came to the bolt shown in the pictures below, the bolt did not tighten at all but could not be pulled out by hand. I did turn it counter-clockwise to remove the bolt. The bolt was not...

Excellent - I'll use the Permatex Sleeve Retainer High Temp, 64040. Thanks again.

    (Fixed) Kubota B2400 big leak

The seal appears to be rubber/plastic (at least on the outside) - not metal (except the cap). The sleeve retainers I have found only bond to metal. For example, Permatex Sleeve Retainer High Temp, 64040. Will that work or do you know of a better product for this application?

    (Fixed) Kubota B2400 big leak

I've had this tractor for over 20 years and used it for over 1000 hrs - never had this issue. Learn something new every day. Thanks.

    (Fixed) Kubota B2400 big leak

Took several deep breaths and feel better. But, a couple questions regarding your post- 1. You say "apply some sleeve retainer to the outside of the seal, reinstall the seal" a. I think the "seal" is what extents out about "1/2 inch more than the left rear axle" as shown in the pic...
