    kubota L185

Their is a service bulletin for old L models for the plug in the end of the cam shaft falling out. If this happens you will not have any oil pressure. I just went through this with mine. Install an oil pressure gauge to find out if you have oil pressure or not.

    Thermal Circllation

Thanks Vic! I will stay with anti-freeze according to your service bulletin. I have been using the 50/50 mix that prestone sells, so I will continue on.....

B5100E Oil pressure and charging issues

I just went through the "oil pressure" thing on my L185. The plug had fell out of the end of the cam shaft. I had no oil pressure at idle and 2 or 3 pounds at 1800 rpm. I bought a oil pr. gauge and mounted it on my dash and went from there. As stated you will need a metric adapter for your block...

    Thermal Circllation

I read with interest in a different thread about thermal circlation. I've had my L185 a little over a year, and it had anti-freeze in it when I got it and still does. However after reading up on it I've decided on going with straight water, plus adding a anti corrosion supplement. My question...

    L185 oil pressure

All done! Finally finished up today. I installed the plug in the cam with JB weld, covered the end of the cam shaft with it, probably 3/8 thick over plug. Took it to the mailbox and back (.5 miles) today after I finished up. Holds 35lbs. when hot at idle, 60lbs. when hot at 2000rpm. Also...

    L185 oil pressure

The saga continues..... Recieved my new timing cover in the mail, looks like new! I tried boring the cam for a pipe plug, but I guess the cam is made out of billet or some super hard material, because all my bit does is squeak and smoke, so I am going to order a plug tomorrow. My question...

    L185 oil pressure

Well, got back from vacation. Started disassembly. I removed the front axle from the motor, the cavity under the timing gear cover was full of dirt. When I got the front end removed and the contamination cleaned up, I found that electrolysis had ate away most of my lower timing gear cover. How...

    L185 oil pressure

Stopped by my local Kabota dealer and got all of the gaskets and seals ordered that I will need. I asked him about service bulletins for a L185, he looked them up and actually found the one about the cam plug falling out ! It was from 1979 ! It listed serial numbers of effected models, mine fell...

    L185 oil pressure

Today I installed a Kabota oil filter, and checked the pressure relief and regulator on the filter housing. Every thing was fine there, and still no oil pressure. Pulled it out onto the driveway and hosed the dirt off of it. Started disassembly. I have it tore down to the front cover, oil and...

    L185 oil pressure

Thanks stumpy, good info. Yes, I decided not to run it anymore untill I figure out the problem. I am going to check out the filter area like you said. Also, some thing that comes to mind, is that I changed the oil and oil filter this spring, and used a NAPA oil filter instead of a Kabota one. I...

    L185 oil pressure

Thanks for the replys. OK, did some more trouble shooting today: * idiot light wiring is ok, tested it with a circuit tester. * bought an oil pr. gauge. Found out what you guys were talking about with the threads. Installed the fitting into the block and put a length of hose on the fitting and...

    L185 oil pressure

L185 oil pressure (update with pics) Bare with me. I purchased a L185 in March 2011. I have been using it to do some mowing since, it has a 72 inch finish mower (pull behind). Recently the battery went dead and I figured out the charging system was not functioning. I found a blown fuse, and...

    L185 temp gauge

Does anybody know what the inside dia. is of an L185 upper radiator hose (OEM Kubota hose) ? I hate to ask such a question here, but it would be nice to know, so I can order the right adapter without having to remove the upper hose intill I am ready. It just occured to me that old chevy's...

    L185 temp gauge

I would like to install a temp gauge on my L185. The reason being is that while running it drips a little antifreeze from the "whistle" hose. I checked the radiator and it is full, and the tractor does not seem to be overheating. I would like to really know what the temp is. I did a search...

I need a pic. of the dash please...

Someone posted a dash pic for a L185 on here, just type "L185" in search and search through the threads. I would think they would be close to the same. Found it, hope this helps. http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1745&highlight=L185

    Now a L185 owner

This pic shows how good the coolant looked. I drained both the radiator and the block, and refilled with 50/50 mix. I had the radiator cooked out and the filler neck replaced. This is the bottom radiator hose ( replaced both top and bottom hoses). What is this in the hose? I took a guess and...
