    I pulled the drains and cleaned them. I was surprised to see the split ring steel washers instead of copper ones, but then again they are supposed to leak aren't they? The pins fit very loosely into the holes and jiggle around. See photo.

    Thanks to all for the mystery solution. The pin on the front one is free but the pin on the rear one is frozen shut. I will pull them both and clean them. Thanks again.
