New user intro and first service for an L3901

Larry: You also paid a healthy shop service rate. My dealer is $90 per hour (Mercedes is $125 but you can eat off their white tile floors. No, I do not own one). I was given a $179 first service discount when I bought the tractor. My 50 hour (I am too old to crawl under this thing) cost me...

    Pistols

I have a Ruger .357 Security Six I sometimes carry on the property. You can tell my concern, the first three rounds are snake shot. Also have a S&W 9 mm stainless semi (Model 29, I believe.) I like it real well but it can't reload snake shot. The blow-by on the .357 is fantastic at night, it...

    Let it snow!

In the late 60s, the then Senator from Maine, Margret Chase Smith, was touring Loring AFB in the potato belt of northern Maine. She walked into a warehouse and it was full of Idaho potatoes, She had a fit. No surprise really, that is how government procurement works. Richard

    Let it snow!

I read your stories and it brings back many memories. I was brought up outside of Boston. When it snowed we shoveled it while it was still snowing. That is just the way it was. I still do it here in Oklahoma even when I know it will be gone in a few days. If I shovel it, the sun will dry...

    Let it snow!

Easy for you say. In the three years I was stationed at Luke we only had one light dusting. Sure do miss it. Richard

U Tube Videos will not open

I cannot get U Tube videos to open (both posted and site videos) in this forum. They come up fine on my web and email. Any reason/any fix?

    Anyone with DPF issues?

Thanks. I would think I would see the lights flashing. It is probably because I did not get particle build-up. As you say, mowing is at high PTO rpm and I do not idle a lot. I read the manual but I am not sure I understand it all. I figured I would re-read it when it happened. I love "the...

Land Pride 12 series Rotary Tiller.

Any Pros or Cons for a 66 in. Land Pride 12 series Rotary Tiller on a L3301 HST? Have soft dirt and/or hard clay undersurfaces. with a fair amount of small wood debris and probably some flush stumps here and there. Will go stump hunting prior to use but some are under surface after oil...

Need a heavy duty tow hitch

I am very leery about towing my L3301 and I had it delivered. I have a Chevy 1500, V-6 automatic, 6 ft. 6 in. bed, trailer mode equipped, with a dealer installed hitch rated at 5,000 lbs. I am using a Reese 3 ¼ in. step-down hitch with a 2 in. ball also rated at 5,000 lbs. The trailer is...

What can a 4' bush hog handle?

What hit you? It looks like a bullet hole, especially that high up. I had to look it up but I am using a 60” (4’) Land Pride RCR1860 with a slip clutch. As we have previously discussed, I have taken on brush and dead sumac twice that high and got away with it. I agree that 2” is about the...

    4 WD difficult to engage

L3301 HST. 62 hrs. I was moving some dirt and I thought I had the 4 WD engaged. Worked fine on the flat until I went to clear out my banked fire pit (high banks on three sides, six inch drop front throat with slight bank to throat). Dropped the front end into the pit and couldn't back out...

L3301 HST will not shift to low range

Thanks guys, It worked like a champ. Once I got into low range the first time, there was no problems thereafter. However, I will start in new thread because I could not get the 4WD to engage and I buried the machine. Is it because it is so new (62 hours now)? Richard

L3301 HST will not shift to low range

My L3301 will not shift into low range. With or without the clutch it will not shift. I have never had a need to use Low Range. I shuffled it but it did not matter. Tractor has 60 hours on it and just returned from a 50 hour inspection. Is there something I am missing?

    Daily Chuckle

True Story I am on leave from the Air Force helping my father on his small farm in North Berwick (near Sanford), Maine. I am in the woods hand clearing brush from the fence line. I had turned off the electric fence as any time I got near the dang thing it would bite me. I had been out about...

    QH15 -Quick Hitch

I hooked up the Quick Hitch to the brush-hog and box blade. Only caution is make sure the PTO shaft is lowered off the hook as that will be the first thing that hits. It helps to move the center linkage out of the way. With a little shuffling, the lower hooks latched and the center hook...

    Rollers on FEL scoop

Snow does not last for very long here in Oklahoma unless things are real bad with an overcast. If I can get close to the black asphalt the sun will usually melts off the snow. I do clear the ice from the concrete garage apron. The snow/ice on the apron melts during the day and turns to glare...

    QH15 -Quick Hitch

Currently I only have a LP box blade and a LP brush hog. I am thinking of getting a 66" LP tiller. I have the wider tires and I had to wire the lower arms together when no implement was installed to keep them away from the tires. The quick hitch gives me the space - one of the reasons for...

    Rollers on FEL scoop

Outstanding Kenny, you need to ask for a commission. I love this forum. When I first read it, I thought it was the old "bucket of steam"/"muffler wrench" trick but they are for real. I am moving RR ties so I'll go for the extensions too. GREAT! Thanks everyone for the input. I liked the...
