If it the background isn't bright white then the fluid is over the glass. The fluid is a little darker and the background is very white. What I have done is to drain the fluid by loosening the hst filter until you see the level drop down. It would be easier to drain it from the drain plug but...

I try to keep mine nice and it is in excellent shape but the paint is a giveaway that it is 6 years old and works pretty hard.

Yeah I think they are meant to easily paint unlike a car with clearcoat. Shake a can of orange paint, spray it and you are good to go until your next scratch which won't be long.

They will fix the scratches as they should and then you are good to go. I went through the same thing and they simply fixed the scratches. Everyone was happy . They also painted over the sight window for my hst oil while they were at it though lol.

I don't know for sure but I doubt it. I have never had a rust issue but I keep them full. What I like about them is that they do not pour until you squeeze the lever on the handle and they don't leak even if they fall over. You tip the can put the nozzle in the tank and squeeze, no mess.
