I would use a time-sert, yes more money, but a much stronger repair. I have used them in aluminum engine blocks for the heads bolts that strip out in the Northstar engines.

I would verify the radiator is not plugged and take the head to a machine shop to verify it is not cracked and straight. No need to replace the head if it passes. Also take a straight edge and check the block while the head is off. Aftermarket suppliers can be good just depends on the source.

You could drop oil pan and inspect the bearings.

You have never worked at flat rate if you think it includes coffee breaks. Heck in the automotive world every quarter the labor flat time changes, and it usually goes down.

I have seen idiots use salt water instead of windshield washer fluid. It RUSTED the pump out, as in the pump was blotted and had rust streaks down the pump and tank. Also seen DEF put into the washer system, at least that made cool looking spider webs on the hood, roof, windshield, and fenders.
