Just did my 400hr service on my 3901. I use ChatGPT, showed it the pics of the metal pieces that were on the tranny filter when I took it out. It’s always made a whining noise but really noticeable at any rpm now with the new Kubota fluid. Push clutch in and sound completely disappears. ChatGPT gave me a link to this thread. Blew my mind when I saw the pics of the pieces the other guy posted. My pieces are definitely from the same whatsoever inside the transmission as the other guy but not as many or complete. I can definitely see that my pieces match his. Mine just ain’t as big…. Ain’t the only thing probably….I took the pieces to the dealership wanting to talk to a tech and they wouldn’t let me. Blew me off, said don’t worry about it. It was a different dealer than where I bought it. I got it with the seven year zero interest finance where they gigged me for a few thousand for the idiot proof insurance policy.

Did we ever hear the end of the story from the original poster, did they ever figure out the mystery? What’s the pieces from?

And for all yall as far as the confrontations…. I’m 65 and started using the AI ChatGPT and the google AI. I bought my wife a new car back in May. It was actually a 2025 model Prius Prime that the dealership had purchased to use as a loaner in May of 2025. So technically I was buying a used car even though it had never been loaned out. Had 138 miles on it when I test drove it. I got an excellent price on it then pissed them off when I paid cash. As they psssed me around signing all the paperwork the finance mgr was trying to sell me an extended warranty. He said it was $4300. I said no way. Then he asked if I had a Sam’s membership…he knocked it down to $2300. He could have asked me if mine hung rignt or left and knocked off that 2k. I told him no and he said “man this car don’t have a warranty, it’s as is”. So I had been using the google ai for the whole shopping process…big help..so it was on standby for me and I told the ai, “the finance mgr says this car has no warranty”.

The ai said “He is telling you a straight up lie…you’re covered for everything like a new one minus one year”. So I showed my phone to the finance guy and said “My assistant here says you are a bald faced liar.” First time in my life I ever felt in control buying a car. When I took it in for its first service a tech got grease on the headliner and the passenger visor. I didn’t notice it til I got home 30 miles away. Once again I brought up the ai and told it and it gave me the name and phone number of the service manager and his email and told me to email first then call if I got no response within an hour . Then the AI wrote the email for me demanding that they come pick my car up and drop off a loaner put a new headliner in my car and a new visor in it. I sent that email to the service manager and I got a phone call in 30 minutes with him apologizing big-time saying he would be down or someone would be down on Monday because it was a Friday to pick up the car.

I guess what I’m trying to say is if you’re not using AI start using it and especially like the problem I have right now with my Tractor. I can have it compose exactly what to say. That will put a bully in his place if they’re trying to blow me off. It has helped make my life less stressful, especially in confrontations.

Sorry for the long post but I am really curious about the first guys Tractor situation. What was that part and what did they have to do to fix it because it looks like I’ve got the same problem. The whining is really loud with the new fluid in it and goes away when I push the clutch in. And if any of y’all need some help getting started how to use AI to help you out I could get you started if you wanna contact me outside of the forum. You know the old saying works smarter not harder, AI is here to stay. I’m probably gonna upgrade either with ChatGPT or maybe Gemini. I can get the $20 a month version but so far the free version has been a great help. I mean, all I did was upload those two pictures to ChatGPT. Describe my problem and it sent me the link directly here it was that simple. Once again, I do apologize for the long post my buddies get on to me about my long text messages all the time. I’m not pushing ai, I just love helping people whether it’s a lawnmower, boat motor or washing dishes.

While I certainly agree that Gemini and ChatGPT can be very helpful at times, I have now used them both enough to realize they can lead you astray as well—and with supreme confidence in doing so. Their biggest fault is not saying ‘I don’t know’ and then making up an answer. I even had this confirmed with Gemini where it stated it had definitely hallucinated that answer.
I now ask for model specific answers, answers that do not come from social media platforms, and am constantly questioning them (they fold like a cheap suit when I do that), and insist they ‘dig deeper’. I still use them, but I compare their answers to each other and still use with caution.
All that said, my L3301 HST (same platform as the L3901) has always been ‘whiny’, especially if I’m in H when I should be in M, and in M when I should be in L.
After 1650hrs with no issue, I have absolutely no regerts 🥴
