508 feet to water with 5.5 hours of drilling. 4.5 GPM. Will be hydrofracking in morning to try to increase yield.

I see you used Cushing for your well. I recognized the truck from the color in the first pictures you posted even though I couldn’t see the name. Good guys, we used them for multiple wells over the years at the farm. I know the owner, great down to earth guy, ask him about his antique tractor collection. 4.5gal isn’t super, but that will support a house with the reserve they drill in the well. Now hope the water test comes back not showing any bad stuff like arsenic or radon that you have to treat out of it.

Wow...that looks expensive!!

I was told our cottage well is at 325 feet.

We are located about 1/2 mile (as the crow flies) from lake Huron.

Legend has it that they hit water at 80 feet, but "code" is 90 feet, so they had to keep drilling????

Not sure how true that is, but the neighbors built the joint, and thats what they swear to.

Yep, here in New England, shortage of contractors and they have shortage of workers. Lucky to get anyone to come out. So it's expensive. But as BAP points out, these guys have great reputation, are knowledgeable, let me watch, learn and record some video, answered all my questions. 4.5 gpm adequate for house supply but not for future farming goals so will try fracking to up flow rate. I want it to be as bulletproof as possible. As to cost, yes, it's a pretty penny. Not got final bill yet but ...
Setup, casing, drilling supplies =$9040 up to 400 ft, the extra 108 feet at $19.50 a foot = $2,106, hydrofracking approx $4200. This does not include any pump/tank setup which will come to about $5790. I dug sump pit and built temporary well access 100 feet beyond what is to be the permanent driveway to future house. My labor and about $1400 for stone and compactor rental. So, about $22,500 total. Asking around this is a bit above average but not the as high as it could have been. And there may yet be some surprise additional costs. But it will outlast me. Oh, well (pun intended).

As to why they drill further than the initial water level, that is for reserve in case the water table drops. It's been an issue here in New England with many older wells running dry in the last few years.

So next project will be septic. Already paid for design and permit = $3800. I'll be able to do the dirt work myself so will save some bucks there. Won't start until next year as winter is coming to kill us (with apologies to Jim Gaffigan).

Yes, love Bart's commercials on radio. Seems like a guy you'd like to have a beer with. Worked with Brian and Bart's son Ezra. Moe was the well driller; didn't get name of assistant. All super nice, amicable guys.

Yep. Manganese and arsenic an issue in NH. Will have to see what test results comes back. Moe said the water smelt "fine" to him. Been drilling since he was 20 years old. I trust his nose so we will see.

My drilled well is 115 feet, static water is 25 feet and 25 gallons per min
Our sandpoint well is 16 feet and 15 gallons per min
Neighbor is 300+ feet and 5 gallons per min
Just up the road they are +900 ft and less than 2 gallons /min
It's all over the board around here.

Wow, great flow rate!

So fracking done. 400 feet at 1700 psi. Flow increased to 10 gpm. Water rising above casing so will have excess for fire pond if it is sustained. Cool process to witness. Drillers were great at answering questions and educating me.
