That said, I was able to defeat the OP switch on my similar B3350 within 5 minutes with a zip tie.

I have a B2650 and it's been trouble free, so far. But I think there's a thread on this site about removing/replacing the switch and the availability of a special wrench sold that makes it much easier. Not sure if it was a proprietary size, maybe a thin angled piece, or something else entirely. But it wasn't very expensive. A search using various terms should have it show up. Hopefully.
