“GOOD GUYS WITH GUNS DON’T EXIST.”
Tell that to the people in this Missouri grocery store parking lot.
🇺🇸

In Pleasant Hill, Missouri, a man showed up at a Price Chopper with a rifle and opened fire in the parking lot, killing a woman and injuring a teenage employee. As chaos broke out and people ran for cover, two legally armed citizens who were already there did what gun‑control activists say never happens: they stepped in, drew their firearms, and moved toward the threat instead of away from it.

According to police, those armed citizens confronted the shooter and closed the distance, forcing him to turn the gun on himself and end the attack. There was no long wait for a SWAT team, no five‑minute response time, just ordinary people with carry permits who refused to let a murderer have free reign over defenseless shoppers. One innocent life was lost and another person was badly hurt, but it is hard to imagine how much worse it could have been if the killer had been allowed to keep walking and shooting unopposed.
🛑

This is what the Second Amendment looks like in real life: not slogans, not politicians, but citizens who are trained, armed, and willing to act when evil shows up where families buy groceries. Every time someone in power sneers that “nobody needs a gun in public,” remember Pleasant Hill. When seconds count, the people already on scene are the real first responders.

If a shooting started in your grocery store parking lot, would you want armed, responsible citizens nearby or just a “gun‑free zone” sign and a prayer that help gets there in time?

In Texas, the law was changed recently, to allow “constitutional” carry…. Which, on the surface, seems sensible and logical to many.
But it also means that anyone not trained and completely ignorant of firearms and “dispute resolution” can be walking around armed and ignorant.

When a bad-actor (such as the above instigator at Price—Chopper) begins their offense…. I worry about the yay-hoos who think they’re the Lone Ranger pulling out their “heater” and blasting-away…without training and without understanding of risks to everyone-else in the area.

Even LTC-holders should first-consider the consequences of themselves pulling out and discharging their weapons ….and potentially being seen as an antagonist.

LTC-holders are taught about those issues in classes, of which “constitutional carriers” probably know nothing.

(On top of which the state loses $19.6 million annually to accommodate those risks.)

I’m in favor of 2nd Amndmt and LTC … but believe that drivers should be taught to drive and be certificated before they are turned loose on the streets.

< And I’m in favor of LTC’s being recognized on the national/federal scale instead of only reciprocity-states >

(donning my nomex-suit now) 😅

The 2nd Amendment never required "government permission slips". 29 states have recognized this and are now constitutional carry.

What if a bad guy pulled out his “heater” and started blasting-away?

Oh, right. That's happened a lot of times.

The other.... not that I've ever heard of, and people have been carrying concealed in many states for many decades. In some states, for hundreds of years.

And yes, every once in a while, somebody carrying legally DOES do something stupid and someone gets killed. Usually, it's a not-so-innocent participant in a "mine's bigger than yours" shouting match that goes even wronger than it started.

But the "blasting away" scenario? I have yet to hear of one.

But that concealed carry saves lives is proven about as well as the sun rising in the east every day. The evidence is overwhelming.

The Founders also used flintlock muzzleloaders….which even today….are not considered firearms in many locales… and I’m OK with that.

People back then also grew up with firearms knowledge from childhood…. But today, all the kids know is what they see the gangsta‘s do on video.

If we’re going to have constitutional carry…. we should also have firearms training from early years…. and if the parents aren’t knowledgeable then the public educational system should be … (but Public Ed. has been down-graded by the same folks who “claim” to be pro-2nd Amndmt.)

Things just ain’t as simple as it was in 1700’s…and we need to recognize that. IMO

The Constitution didn’t consider a LOT of things it should-have.… universal suffrage for example… so the constant echo’s about the “Founding Fathers” and the Un-Amended Constitution is B.S.
THINK about it…. the very “Right” you are arguing….is an AMENDMENT itself!

Nobody is talking about the "Un -Amended Constitution". The Constitution includes all the amendments. The 2nd Amendment obviously being among the earliest.

chalk one up for the good guys! nice to know my neighbors are on the ball over there. sad to hear the woman was killed and boy injured but thankfully it ended there.

P Hill is in my AO. I sold truckloads of green walnuts there as a kid and the public works bulk water fill is my alternate when Lee's Summit water tower site is down.

arguing politics on the internet is a fool's errand but needless to say, I support constitutional carry and ignore contradictory rhetoric.

Trained doesn't mean exercising good judgement. Just the other day one cop shot another one through his windshield after the first cop "quick drawed" the other one with a loaded gun.

I think that's an argument that it's not easy to determine who should be "allowed" to carry. Of course, there's been numerous cops who have had negligent discharges. We presume they were "trained professionals".

Personally, I'd rather give non-felons a chance to defend themselves.

We would not go shopping or spend our money if there was a ‘gun-free-zone’ sign at a grocery (or other place for that matter). However I do appreciate when they post that they discriminate against my kind…that way I don’t accidentally support their business.
