I bought an L3560 grand last week. It’s insane how much force you can put the loader and three point hitch under. This tractor has stall guard and the throttle up button on the joystick. I read here and elsewhere about the Grand being worth the extra money but its really insane the difference between the grand and a normal tractor.

Am I likely to bend or rip some part of the loader or hitch scraping thick layers of dirt off with this tractor. I could see hitting a stump or a rock. But really short of that its managing the speed well and slowing the tractor way down meaning I think its within its abilities but I just dont know. Its impressive though But is that the short path to broken stuff.

Wear the seat belt. Keep going.

My smaller and lighter B2650 has multiple times had the loader dead stopped by a boulder or stump while pushing along at a decent low gear clip. It bounces the front of the tractor off the ground against the hydraulics and the tranny hisses and roars for a second as the wheels come to a stop before I can react and release the speed pedal.

And pulling with the 3-point, my box scraper has done the same, but with no hydraulic "shock absorbers". It just BOOM to a dead stop as the scraper meets and unyielding stump or boulder.

No discernible damage for the loader or 3-point. Of course avoiding rough encounters is preferred, but these machines are made to suffer a degree of abuse.

Just grease all the fittings well and frequently, as those are the main shock surfaces to protect.

This is something you cant understand what im talking about with your tractor. Not being offensive I dont even understand it. Keep in mind I have an L4701 and it cant produce half the force and work with that tractor that the 3560 grand produces on the loader or hitch. I put them side bi side this weekend and then parked the L4701 because it cant even scratch the surface of the dirt the 3560 is just pushing and scraping through. Im taking 6 to 10”s of packed dirt off a pass with the root grapple and then blading the massive pile out in reverse as I return for another pass.

Sounds like you've got the right tractor for your job!

If you have the bucket cylinders extend fully when dragging material in reverse, that's the easiest way to bend the pistons quickly!!

Good advise I will attempt to not do that and its at very little angle cylinders are compressed most of the way. Crazy power and speed control tractor slows down barely breaks tractio

It’s certainly impressive to see it in action. I had concerns that the lower HP and heavier tractor frame would be struggling to drag and push heavy loads. Which seems to be the thing I do the most. it may be underpowered if running big PTO consumers but it will flat push drag and dig.

It kind of sucks when you’re trying to buy a piece of equipment. You can go test drive a car and put it through the paces. But no tractor dealer is going to let you go dig a 6 foot deep trench or scrape and push up 2000 pounds of hard pack dirt and rocks with a new machine. So you blindly buying until you actually have Ran one a few hours or more. Im still wishing I had a cab. Theres as many pros and cons with a cab. Costs at the top of the list but how many times on a super hot or cold day will I need to unload a pallet or 55 drum two minutes operation im getting in a smoking hot cab or a frozen cab. In the summer im working in the morning any way. So it really boils down to moving snow. My employees are going to get to move more snow these days.

I would say you are right to be hesitant.

Tractor front end loader are not made near as robust a skid steer. Tractors are well suited to scooping and lifting but they aren't designed for digging IMHO.

Two big things I'd keep in mind to avoid are:

Avoid side load to FEL whenever possible.
Avoid pushing with 3ph implements in reverse.

Bingo.

Tractor/FELS are designed to move loose materials. They are not skid steers and are not designed for excavation.

Anothing other than very light excavation is abuse.
