It's the clutch housing drain plug. It should jiggle in place to let out moisture. From the picture it looks about right. Tap it with your fingernail.It should simply go up and down and jiggle around a bit.

Its not leaking. Its a plug designed to drain any oil that is collecting in the clutch housing.
My (maybe misguided) understanding of it is that the valve thing only exists so that an oil leak that leaks into the clutch housing would not ruin the clutch.

Therefore either the transmission or engine must have a leaking seal, no?

If it is more than an occasional drip, a repair. In years past Kubota had trouble with seals. I was aware of that before buying mine (used). Kubota records showed mine had a seal replacement at under 100 hours. Lucky me. My BIL has an L4740 he bought used and the seal went about a year after he bought it. IIRC the cost to replace the seal on his cabbed tractor was around $4K.

Just make sure it’s really leaking from the jiggle plug instead of leaking off the jiggle plug. Reason I say that is it’s one of the lowest points on that part of the tractor. Just recently, I had a tiny drip leaving a little puddle directly under the jiggle plug. I assumed it was coming from the jiggle plug releasing oil from inside the bell housing due to a failed seal either on the engine side or transmission side. A little investigating showed it was actually a tiny leak at the HST filter that was running down and dripping off the jiggle plug. An additional 1/4 turn of the filter fixed it.

Most likely, you’ll be splitting it to replace a seal, but make sure it’s not leaking from somewhere higher up and just running off there.

Thanks. It is a hydrostatic transmission, so no clutch. There is oil leaking from it. Where would the oil be coming from?
gotcha.... the joys of a democracy you can disagree but I stand by my assessment that it is the clutch housing drain plug. The leak will be either moisture or leaking seal occurring above that point.

Let us know what your mechanic advises as next steps.

Water, Coolant, Transmission oil ( fairly clean), Engine oil (black), diesel fuel, are all possible fluids that could come out of the split pin drain.

Now what comes out of the drain, determines what you need to do next.

Based on those post dates would it be fair to say these stopped by 2020s? Just trying to see if it’s something I need to plan for on my 2022

Clean, relatively clear oil.
So most likely hydralic fluid, and most likely from this seal:

It could also be this gasket or seal:

I would do all three just to make sure I got the leak if I didn't see a single seal that was blown.

I can't answer that with any certainty. According to one of the posts there was a problem with an L6060 and they were made till last year.
