I have an L4802 that is a year old and with 177 hours. I always have the brake pedals coupled with the little lever behind the pedals but I tried uncoupling them to use the brakes separately to steer tighter in the field. Problem is the pedals wont work separately. The left pedal works independently as it should but when I press the right pedal it takes the left pedal with it. i looked trying to see what may be causing the issue like a twig stuck somewhere but I didn't find anything. Anyone have any ideas?

Press the right pedal with your hand and see if you can pull the left pedal up to its resting place. My only guess is rust on the shaft that they may share moving both pedals. Are you sure that the little metal tab is completely out of the way of the other pedal when you unlock the two pedals?

My guess is also rust or general lack of use. My tractor has grease fittings on clutch pivot and brake pivots - if this is not an option for you, working them back and forth separately and applying your oil of choice to the pivot shaft sleeves may free them up.

Yep you need to lube the pivot points on the pedals.

The LH brake pedal pivots on the RH brake pedal's shaft. Spray some lube on the pivots and work the pedals.
